PRE-LAB MEETING CHECKLIST
Before the meeting time, Senior TA sets up the lab for the next week. Check that all lab equipment is accounted for on each lab table.
Here is the setup process standard.
Test
all
equipment on every table for good results. (It is easier and faster to delegate this task to share the load with other TAs, but the Senior TA is ultimately responsible.)
Check that all teaching supplies (chalk, worksheets, pen, cleaning supplies, etc.) are stocked.
To start the meeting, discuss the previous lab with TAs and ways to improve for the future. If possible, make the improvement immediately!
Discuss the full range of topics to prepare TAs for the next lab.
Review the
full procedure
of the lab. The
lab checklist
provides a generic template.
Discuss common issues or difficulties students encounter during the procedure or processing the concept.
Repeat and restate the effective ways to
engage
students in questioning and thinking, and to
assess
comprehension before, during, and after the lab.
Talk about how TAs should grade labs.
Repeat and restate the effective ways to personally
connect
with students and manage any bad behavior (laziness).
PH1123/2233 only: Prepare 6+ oral evaluation questions for the lab. (2 can be used in X pattern, 2 in | pattern, and 2 in — pattern)
